Today marks the release of P!nk’s seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma. The 38-year-old singer has been making headlines while promoting its release and will have her third musical guest appearance on Saturday Night Live.
The always-outspoken singer spoke with the Los Angeles Times this week and pointed out that now that she has a a husband and kids, releasing an album is “different.” She admitted that, although she says she’s “not inclined toward drama and feuds and soundbites,” she “almost got caught in it” during a radio interview in London. During a segment called “P!nk Fast” (very clever, British radio jocks), the singer was asked about whose side she was on in the Katy Perry/Taylor Swift feud. P!nk recalled “I said, ‘Either way, I can’t win — but Taylor?’ And I should’ve just kept my mouth shut, because I don’t believe that. I don’t care. But I felt rushed and I didn’t know what to do. And I paid for it, because then the next day: ‘P!nk is Team Taylor.’”
Although P!nk didn’t then go on to describe the retribution one receives at the hands of angry Katy Perry fans, she did note that our beef culture has “gotten pretty bad,” adding, “we’re giving our power away by playing into it.” In fact, just last month, P!nk, responding to a fan’s tweet, said that her Lady Marmalade-era feud with Christina Aguilera was no more, tweeting “Want to point out an awful new phenomenon of the last 10 years. We can no longer be happy for each other. I ❤️ Xtina, we’ve made amends….”

P!nk hasn’t had the best social media week. Some tweets she posted on Monday addressed at #45 got her into a bit of hot water, as fans assumed she was lending her support to the Commander in Cheeto. Late Monday night, she tweeted, “I’ve seen people change and turn their lives around. There’s still hope for you @POTUS. It’s what the world needs.” And fans lost their minds.
I've seen people change and turn their lives around. There's still hope for you @POTUS. It's what the world needs.

What these irate fans failed to see was the tweet she sent moments before that one, “@POTUS you are doing a terrible job. Worse than every other job you’ve done terrible at. Do you seriously have time to worry about the NFL?”

P!nk tried to clarify her sentiments in an interview with Huffington Post, where she said “My second tweet was, ‘Let me take a different approach. Let me try to be hopeful,’” optimistically adding, ”I believe that people can change. So, I want to be hopeful sometimes.” She went on to say that she may have been “naive” in hoping 45 could change, acknowledging, “maybe berating him isn’t the way. Maybe inspiring him and maybe he, even he down deep in there, maybe could still be a good person. He still has a chance to be a good president. And that’s what I got vilified for ― was the hope.”
I feel bad she got attacked, as her heart is definitely in the right palace. I mean, she recently donated $500,000 to the Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey relief. And, although we all know that 45 is a lost cause, it is nice to see someone try to take a positive hopeful slant on the future. So, to all of you who came for P!nk for her tweets, (in my best Chris Crocker voice), “Leave P!nk alone!”
It seems however, that she doesn’t need me to come to her defense, as she has no problem speaking her mind – and she thinks you should as well. P!nk told the LA Times “If I take an action, I mean it, and I will take the consequences that come with that, celebrity or not.” She went on to say, “Nobody should shut up. Everybody should be talking. I was raised with the mantra ‘Dissent is the cornerstone of democracy.’ We’re supposed to disagree. You don’t really know how you feel until you have to defend it.”
P!nk collaborated with another artist who has no problem speaking his mind for a track on Beautiful Trauma. A track called “Revenge” features rapper Eminem, who took down 45 in a scathing rap played during the BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday. P!nk said the fruits of the vine inspired the collaboration, confessing to England’s ITV,
“I reached out to him in this case,” Pink said. “I love him. I’ve always loved him. I think he’s a lyrical genius, and I just wrote him a love letter. I had written this song. I had went to the studio and drank a lot of wine, I wrote ‘Revenge.’
“And then, I went home and drank more wine because that’s what you do when you’ve already drank a lot of wine — you think more wine is a good idea — and I wrote him an email and I said, ‘I love you. I’ve always loved you. I’ve loved you since you gave me your autograph at the 2001 MTV Music Video Awards. I love that you always work with the same people.’ I just wrote this love letter, and he just wrote back, ‘OK.’”

I still love me some P!nk, despite the fact that I would have to take out a second mortgage to see her on her upcoming Beautiful Trauma tour ($170 per ticket, before Ticketmaster’s outrageous fees). Guess I’ll be watching my Truth About Love tour DVD for the billionth time on April 21. I hope she never shuts up.

I usually don't like paparazzi pics but come on with this little meatball face
