A politician of the new age, he has adopted new approaches for connecting with people. In his constituency, he often visits common man’s houses without prior information and spends time with them, living their life and listening to their miseries. This approach has won him hearts among the masses; some people praise him for doing a faceoff with the reality while opponents label it as a publicity stunt.

He was arrested on 11th May 2011 as he was going to meet the farmers in the village of Bhatta Parsaul. He was released after 3 hours and was taken back to Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi has a strong word on the Hindu Terrorism. In a wiki leaks cable, it was revealed that he told the US ambassador last year that the Hindu extremists are a lot more dangerous than Muslim militants as far as spreading of terrorism is concerned. This led to severe criticism by the opponents.

He advocated for the creation of Lok Pal as an autonomous constitutional body, similar to the election commission of India. However, this resolution is not passed by the Lok Sabha.

His party workers see him as a potential candidate for being the Prime Minister of India in future, but he never had shown any intentions or confirmations regarding the same. Also, he had kept media reporting totally away from his personal life.
